Vulvar Fordyce adenitis: A cohort of 45 women

Recurrent episodes of painful papules and nodules, mostly located on the labia minora , have been reported under denominations vulvar sebaceous adenitis (14 published cases) acne (16 cases). The primary aim this study was to delve further into clinical pathological features condition. secondary collect therapeutic data. In retrospective cohort files photographs patients with or nodules inner majora were extracted from a clinic database. Clinical, data analysed. Forty-five women included 2002 2018. median age at time diagnosis 36 years (range: 16–60). 6.5 years. Hidradenitis suppurativa androgenic alopecia hirsutism observed 3, 1 cases respectively. Neutrophilic infiltrates 4 available biopsies within around Fordyce glands 2 patients. Treatment tetracyclines oral zinc not consistently effective. Isotretinoin led complete remission unresponsive tetracyclines. Vulvar adenitis/vulvar is clinically identifiable cause inflammatory lesions affecting majora, which are coincidentally sites granules. We therefore suggest more specific denomination: “vulvar adenitis”. relationship hidradenitis requires investigation. use an anti-acne strategy reduce inflammation decrease secretion glands.
